| As an eclectic musician,
I have carefully studied many styles
and instruments. I studied piano for nearly four years, and
have very recently begun studying voice as a second bass.
I have made pilgrimages to musical Meccas like Mountain View, Arkansas—where
I learned more how to develop my skills on the mandolin and the
mountain dulcimer—and England, where I performed in the various
cathedrals, minsters, and churches therein. The organ has
also become a study of mine. Also, I have worked with the
throat-singing styles of Tyva; they have been great studies on the
musical potential of the human voice.
I arrange to bring new life to old
themes. For years, fans have marveled at the themes from the
Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger video game series. Many of
my arrangements come from those series. Even a few Christmas
melodies have been subjects of my arranging.
I compose to bring new works to the
world. My first three pieces were performed at the Delta State
University's resident accompanist's farewell performance.
These won the
2006 MIAL Music Composition award, making me the youngest to
have ever won it. Two of my next compositions, the sketches
of Mississippi, were performed at a showcase by the succeeding accompanist,
Dr. Kumiko Shimizu. The other two have been completed since
then.
I transcribe to help me and other
musicians understand new music. The process is very enjoyable,
and is a powerful way to understand every part of a piece.
In order for anyone to view my scores,
he or she may download the free Finale Notepad 2005 (Or use any
Finale 2005 product). Else, a PDF and MIDI are available for
reading and listening. |
